Maroon beat White, 43-23, in front of a Texas A&M spring game record crowd of 45,212 on Saturday afternoon. Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel was the star of the contest, not surprisingly, leading the Maroon squad to an easy win with a prolific first-half performance. The defense lined up opposite him was mostly helpless, but then again, they were missing some key contributors.

The Heisman winner was impressive against a short-handed Aggies defense, finishing the game with more than 300 yards passing.

Little went wrong for Manziel, though he did give the coaching staff a bit of a scare when he attempted a cut block on Sam Moeller during a Brandon Williams run. A&M's coaches quickly clarified to Manziel that he should definitely not do that ever.

Afterward, Manziel said he “immediately regretted” the block attempt and that he apologized to Moeller.
There aren't a lot of personnel questions to be resolved on the offensive side for the Aggies; first-string running back Ben Malena wasn't given much work, as he ran the ball just three times. That provided opportunities for Brandon Williams and Trey Williams, who combined to run for 126 yards and two scores on 14 carries.
LeKendrick Williams led all wideouts with 105 yards receiving on seven receptions.
The short-handed defense may have given up a lot of points, but there were still positive takeaways from its performance. Defensive coordinator Mark Snyder says the secondary is way ahead of where it was a year ago, and Nate Askew has been solid since moving from wide receiver to linebacker.
