3 Pitt football players detained in heroin bust
Pittsburgh received some bad news Thursday night.

Police, undercover officers and SWAT members raided an Oakland, Pa., home at around 10:30 p.m. and seized 20 bags of heroin, a bong and a grinder. The raid came after an investigation that led to undercover agents purchasing heroin from Darnell Reed-Young. Reed-Young was arrested before police raided the home.
Carswell, a junior tight end, Mosley Smith, a junior defensive lineman, and Williams, a junior linebacker, all played minor roles for the Panthers in 2012. Carswell made 13 catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns, while Mosley-Smith finished the year with eight tackles and Williams averaged four tackles per game.
For a program that has struggled on the field in recent years -- Pitt is 20-19 since a 10-3 2009 season -- the off-field news doesn’t appear to be any better.
