The Big Ten released its 2014 football schedule on Thursday afternoon. The new schedule includes both Maryland and Rutgers, who will be participating as members of the league for the first time that season. It also reflects the newly-aligned divisions, which are now divided along geographic lines.

As the schedule makes clear, both the Terrapins and Scarlet Knights will face a tough introduction to their new conference. They’ll face league powers and fellow East Division members Michigan and Ohio State every year, and they also have Michigan State and Penn State to contend with on an annual basis.

Each Big Ten school will play eight conference games in 2014 and 2015, but the conference is moving to a nine-game schedule come 2016. The East Division schools will play five home games and four road games in even-numbered years, while the West schools will get five home games in odd-numbered years.

The Big Ten also may release its 2015 schedule by the end of the month.
