The Sun Belt’s new logo, which might or might not represent the spinning wheel used to select new conference members, was unveiled by the league on Monday. Along with the new logo, the league has a new slogan: “Together We Rise.” Togetherness is not a word one would associate with the Sun Belt, given the number of defections from the league recently, but this time it’s sure to be different.

The Sun Belt endured a lot of turnover during the last phase of realignment, prompting a new look.
Directional school rivalries torn asunder. Aimless conference executives enduring existential crises. Institutions lost to Conference USA. That’s how a league like the Sun Belt ends up here. New slogans amid old tears. For his part, commissioner Karl Benson is putting on a brave face:
“The unveiling of our new logo comes after months of review of how we wanted to express the ‘new’ Sun Belt Conference,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson. “It is a very exciting chance for us to display the opportunity and optimism that exists in the Sun Belt Conference as we move forward.”
Nothing could inspire a renewed sense of optimism like the additions of Georgia State and Idaho, not to mention the addition of [school as determined by flick of spinner].
