Pinstripe Bowl, Big Ten set to announce multiyear agreement, according to report

It appears the Big Ten’s new bowl lineup will include the Pinstripe Bowl, hosted at Yankee Stadium in New York.

USA TODAY Sports

The Big Ten Conference and the Pinstripe Bowl will announce a multiyear agreement set to begin in 2014 on Monday, according to a report from the Associated Press. The Big Ten has been working to add the bowl to its lineup for months now, so this development comes as no surprise.

The bowl will likely match a Big Ten squad with an ACC opponent each winter, though that isn’t official yet either. Monday’s announcement at Yankee Stadium is expected to be focused entirely on the Big Ten. Those two conferences would replace the current Big 12-Big East matchup.

Rutgers will soon to be a member of the Big Ten, making the addition of the Pinstripe Bowl to the Big Ten’s bowl lineup a logical move. The ACC is bringing Syracuse into the fold, one reason why this venue makes sense for that league as well.

Either Rutgers or Syracuse has appeared in each Pinstripe Bowl to date; the two are a combined 3-0 in the postseason contest.
