Oklahoma Sooners DL Chuka Ndulue reportedly arrested for DUI

The Sooners could be scrambling to find defensive tackles for their August 31 opener with Louisiana-Monroe.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma Sooners defensive lineman Chuka Ndulue was picked up for driving under the influence early Saturday morning in Norman, according to SoonerScoop.com:

Ndulue, a junior out of Dallas, appeared in 12 games and made nine starts at defensive end for the Sooners in 2012. He recorded 43 tackles, six tackles for loss, five sacks and one forced fumble. He is expected to move to defensive tackle for the 2013 season. Ndulue is the only returning defensive line starter for the Sooners from their bowl game lineup, though his arrest could mean an early-season suspension. As SoonerScoop indicates, a conviction for DUI has typically carried a one-game suspension under Bob Stoops.

Oklahoma is already extremely thin at defensive tackle, with Ndulue one of only four defensive tackles on the roster. Junior Torrea Peterson, sophomore Jordan Phillips and redshirt freshman Jordan Wade will fill the void in the Sooners' four-man front should Ndulue miss some playing time.

There has been no comment from Oklahoma so far on Ndulue’s arrest. The Sooners open their 2013 season against Louisiana-Monroe on August 31, with Big XII rival West Virginia coming to Norman on September 7.
