Rich Rodriguez closed out his first two summer camps this weekend, a 7-on-7 tournament and “Big Man Challenge” held Saturday and prospect camp held Sunday at Arizona’s Jimenez Practice Facility.
Arizona closes summer football camp with Slip ‘n’ Slide
It’s 105 degrees there. The whole camp should be a Slip ‘n’ Slide.

These are long days for the players. Camp starts at 7:30 and runs until 5:00 that evening, with multiple rounds of 7-on-7 games, line drills, weight room and film sessions, and ongoing instruction from Rodriguez and his staff. That is before you consider that the camp is conducted in June in the middle of a desert a stone’s throw from the Mexican border. Saturday’s high was 105 degrees. Sunday hit 107.
So what better way to close out a long day of football drills in temperatures exceeding 100 degrees than to cool down with a good old-fashioned Slip ‘n’ Slide? Video courtesy of Arizona Athletics.
One thing is certain after watching that video: Rodriguez hasn’t seen that many faceplants since he left Michigan.
