Running back Michael Dyer was in Tampa to visit USF this weekend and that could be a potential landing spot for him, according to a report from ESPN's Joe Schad. Dyer is still trying to work his way back into major college football after legal problems cost him opportunities at both Auburn and Arkansas State.

The former Auburn star is trying to convince a team to give him a third chance.
Schad reported on July 1 that Dyer had received interest from Troy and Western Kentucky out of the Sun Belt, as well as Illinois State. At that point in time Dyer said he wanted to be enrolled at one of those schools over the next 10 days, but that did not materialize. He has said he would prefer to play for Arkansas, even as a walk-on, but that does not appear to be an option for him.
Dyer had a couple of successful seasons for Auburn but hasn’t played a down of college football since a drug suspension in Dec. of 2011 resulted in his departure from the school. He moved on to Arkansas State, where he did not last long, and after that chose to focus on academics at Arkansas Baptist College, where he recently earned an associate’s degree.
Setting the off-field issues aside for a moment, a move to Tampa would seem to make sense for both Dyer and South Florida. Dyer’s track record is undeniable -- he was a five-star prospect out of high school, and he logged two 1,000-yard seasons in the SEC. He has two years of eligibility remaining and he can play immediately.
The Bulls, meanwhile, are coming off a dreadful season and a coaching change, and the offense could use a boost. USF also must replace its top three rushers from a year ago. The Bulls need impact players, and Dyer could be one after he rids himself of the rust he’s accumulated from being away from football.
