2013 SEC preseason poll picks Alabama over Georgia, announces All-SEC teams

The Tide once again win everything.

The last day of SEC Media Days started with the conference releasing its media preseason poll and all-SEC teams, and there isn’t a whole ton of drama towards the top of college football’s strongest conference. But who the media chose to contend with Alabama is intriguing: they picked Georgia to win the Eastern Division and gave 11 first-place votes to Texas A&M to win the conference instead of the Crimson Tide.

The media released three separate polls: one poll for each division’s finish, where voters picked each side of the league from top-to-bottom, and one poll for the winner of the conference, ranked by number of votes. Last year, they picked LSU to win the conference over Alabama, who went on to become the national champions.

Here’s how each poll panned out. First, the picks for the champion, unsurprisingly led by the Tide:

Alabama - 182
Georgia - 38
South Carolina - 18
Texas A&M - 4
LSU - 1

And the polls for each division:

EASTERN DIVISION
Georgia (149) - 1570
South Carolina (75) - 1474
Florida (19) - 1300
Vanderbilt - 858
Tennessee - 694
Missouri - 577
Kentucky - 331
WESTERN DIVISION
Alabama (225) - 1681
Texas A&M (11) - 1333
LSU (7) - 1324
Ole Miss - 883
Auburn - 579
Mississippi State - 516
Arkansas - 488

The media also released three all-SEC teams, as well as the amount of first-team votes each player received. Johnny Manziel and Jadeveon Clowney were the easy selections, but there were some tough picks to make.
