Nebraska mascot’s new face kind of looks like Tom Osborne’s

Nebraska mascot Herbie Husker has a new face, and maybe it’s just the lighting, but it looks like he has a new tan as well. He’s also added some gray hair and more prominent cheekbones, because watching your team give up 70 to Wisconsin will put some mileage on you, man.

Speaking of that hair and those cheekbones, it also appears that Herbie is slowly turning into former Nebraska head coach Tom Osborne.

This is exactly the sort of wide smile Osborne would have shown off on the sidelines if he didn’t have an inherent understanding of just how poorly the hats he had to wear on the sideline would age. Since retiring, he has for the most part eschewed the whole hat thing. Herbie, on the other hand, can keep smiling because that Nebraska-themed cowboy hat is timeless. And he just got back from Cabo.
