GIF: This dirty Indiana State hit shows why we have a helmet targeting rule

Self-explanatory title, really.

Indiana State's Carlos Aviles became the second player to be ejected via college football's new targeting rule Thursday night, nailing defenseless Indiana punt returner Shane Wynn as he waited to haul in the football.

Aviles, a freshman defensive back, was promptly ejected. He became the second player booted from his game on college football's opening night, as Tulane cornerback Lorenzo Doss was tossed earlier for an illegal hit vs. Jackson State.

Indiana State-Indiana has been filled with plenty of fireworks, as the the Hoosiers held a 59-28 lead as of the 6:00 mark in the third quarter. The Hoosiers have more than doubled the Sycamores’ offensive output, nearing the 500 total-yard mark before the fourth quarter.
