Denzel Nkemdiche, Aaron Morris injuries sideline 2 Ole Miss starters

Rebels reeling, with two all-SEC starters gone for key stretch of the season.

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

Ole Miss star linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche will miss four to six weeks with a knee injury, and starting guard Aaron Morris is out fo the season with a torn ACL, according to Neal McCready of RebelGrove.com:

Nkemdiche was a preseason All-SEC choice by the league’s coaches and media, and was on the Lombardi Award and Nagurski Trophy watch lists. He started at linebacker in all 13 games for Ole Miss as a freshman, recording 82 tackles, 13 TFL and three sacks. He also picked off three passes and forced four fumbles, earning FWAA Freshman All-America team and second-team All-SEC honors.

If Nkemdiche misses six weeks, he will be unavailable for crucial games at Texas, at Alabama, at Auburn, and against Texas A&M. Junior Serderius Bryant, who played in every 2012 game as a reserve, is listed as Nkemdiche's backup on the Ole Miss depth chart.

Morris, a junior, was a preseason third-team All-SEC selection by the league’s coaches. He started at left guard in every game last season, winning SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week against Tulane, and had 19 career starts entering 2013.
