Four former Vanderbilt football players were indicted by a grand jury on Friday, according to the City Paper in Nashville.

Brandon Banks, Cory Batey, Jaborian McKenzie and Brandon Vandenburg were each charged with four counts of sexual battery and five counts of aggravated rape, per the report. Vandenburg was also charged with tampering with evidence and unlawful photography.
Vanderbilt quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels is named a witness in the indictment, Mike Organ of The Tennessean reports. Organ also notes that District Attorney General Torry Johnson said more could be charged in the case and that “the investigation is still ongoing.”
The charges are related to an alleged incident that occurred on June 23 in a dorm on Vanderbilt’s campus. All four players were suspended by the university and the football team one week after the alleged incident. The players were dismissed in mid-July.
Vanderbilt’s athletic department declined comment on the charges. Worrick Robinson, Batey’s attorney, told the City Paper that his client has been indicted but declined further comment.
“I can confirm he’s been indicted, but that’s all I can say,” Robinson said. “I actually have not seen the indictment. Until I have seen the indictment, it’s not appropriate for me to comment.”
