Former SEC players cooperating with investigations after Yahoo! report, per schools

Fluker is working with Alabama officials.

Update:

Ex-Alabama offensive lineman D.J. Fluker, who Yahoo! Sports alleges is one of five current or former SEC players to receive impermissible benefits, is cooperating with UA compliance officials, per a report at TideSports.com.

The Crimson Tide is looking into the allegations, and following the release of the investigative report by Yahoo!‘s Rand Getlin and Charles Robinson, the school released a statement Wednesday saying it had been aware of the potential NCAA violations before the story was published.

“We have been aware of some of the allegations in today’s story and our compliance department was looking into this situation prior to being notified that this story was actually going to be published,” UA athletic director Bill Battle said. “Our review is ongoing. We diligently educate our student-athletes on maintaining compliance with NCAA rules, and will continue to do so.”

Fluker is alleged to have received multiple cash transfers, hotel stays, furniture, airline flights and other benefits, funneled through Luther Davis, another former Alabama player acting as an intermediary between agents and players. Getlin and Robinson provided various emails, receipts and other documents backing up the claims in their report. Fluker was a first-team All-American on the Crimson Tide's national championship team in 2012. If the NCAA investigates the allegations and finds they are true, that title could be in jeopardy of being vacated.

Davis played at Alabama from 2007-10, and he has been told that he is unwelcome around the program, per the Tide Sports story.

In addition to Fluker, former Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and wide receiver Chad Bumphis, and former Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray and current defensive end Maurice Couch also received benefits through Davis, according to the Yahoo! report.
