Oregon plays Tennessee this week, and Ducks right tackle Jake Fisher says his teammates are "really scared" of the SEC (via Deadspin):
VIDEO: Tongue-in-cheek Oregon player: ‘We’re really, really intimidated by the SEC’
You can’t spell ‘sarcasm’ without at least two of the letters in SEC.
Among Fisher’s quotes:
“They’re big strong and fast. They’re the SEC and nobody can beat the SEC.”
“They’re really big and scary, so, I mean, we’re all really, really intimidated by the SEC so we’re going to have to keep our minds right.”
“It’s our dream to play the SEC, so we’re going to come out and play a good game.”
Fisher failed to tell the reporter that he’s “shaking in his boots” while making air quotes with his fingers and shivering. That would have broken the sarcasm meter.
Oregon has lost its last two games against SEC opponents, including a season-opening loss to LSU in 2011 and a defeat at the hands of Auburn in the 2010 National Championship Game. The Ducks did blow out Tennessee, 48-13, in Knoxville three years ago.
