The yearly Iowa-Iowa State rivalry has been heavily tiled towards the Hawkeyes over the years, including a stretch from 1983 to 1997 where Iowa did not lose the game at all, but Iowa State has rebounded with two straight wins of the Cy-Hawk Trophy. The Hawkeyes and Cyclones will face off again Saturday after disappointing starts to the year for both squad. Television coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

One of the oldest rivalries in college football takes the field on Saturday.
Iowa lost their opener to Jordan Lynch and Northern Illinois by just three points at home, and managed to snap their seven-game losing streak with a 28-14 win over Missouri State last week. Iowa has had success on the ground thus far, with Mark Weisman running for more than 100 yards in both games.
Iowa State was one of eight FBS teams to fall to lower-division opponents in the first week, dropping their opener at home to Northern Iowa 28-20. They had a week off last week, giving them extra time to prepare for the rivalry contest.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Neither team received any votes in either poll. Iowa holds a 39-21 all-time lead in the series.
Vegas: Iowa is a 2.5-point favorite, with an over/under of 47 points. OddsShark has more.
Weather: A high of 75, partly cloudy with a slight chance of rain.
Three names to know
Mark Weisman. The junior running back has been strong for the Hawkeyes this year, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and running for 280 yards and two touchdowns. If Iowa can consistently feed him the ball, they stand a good chance Saturday.
Christian Kirksey. Iowa's defense has done relatively well this season, and much of that is thanks to the senior linebacker from St. Louis. Kirksey has 17 tackles with a fumble recovered for a touchdown.
Sam Richardson. Iowa State’s quarterback is a dual threat, throwing for two touchdowns and leading the team in rushing against Northern Iowa.
Two things at stake
If Iowa State wins, it will be the first time in more than 10 years they have won the rivalry game three times in a row.
For Iowa, they’re hoping to get back on track after a disastrous 2012 and a poor start to 2013.
