Skywriting plane writes ‘GO BLUE’ above Spartan Stadium

There’s an odd relationship between Michigan and Michigan State these days. The two are in-state rivals—of course they are—but while Michigan State derives a great deal of pride from its adversarial relationship with Michigan, the feeling’s not totally mutual; Michigan generally counts Ohio State as its primary rival.

Of course, Spartan fans will point out that Robinson’s teams lost three of four games against Michigan State, and they generally believe Michigan’s underselling how important the rivalry is to the maize and blue.

And when you see things like a Michigan-friendly skywriter putting “GO BLUE” in the clouds above Michigan State’s Spartan Stadium, you realize there might be something to this idea that Michigan actually does care deeply about the in-state rivalry.
