Louisville vs. Kentucky 2013 final score: Teddy Bridgewater leads Cardinals to 27-13 win

The Heisman candidate quarterback and Louisville’s rushing attack had their way with UK’s defense on Saturday.

The No. 7 Louisville Cardinals knocked off the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon to claim the Governor's Cup trophy for the third-straight year with a 27-13 victory on the road.

The Cardinals came out of the gates a bit rusty and weren't able to really move the ball on Kentucky, taking just a 10-3 lead into halftime. Teddy Bridgewater and Senorise Perry took over in the second half, though, and started having their way with the young Wildcats as they got tired. Louisville also forced three turnovers, halting a couple of promising drives from UK.

Kentucky tried to make things interesting in the fourth quarter with a late touchdown pass to pull the game to within two possessions, but it would prove to be too little, too late for Mark Stoops’ bunch. There were positive things to build on, but they just didn’t have the horses to keep up with Bridgewater and Co. on Saturday in Lexington.

Box Score Hero: Bridgewater didn’t put up huge numbers, but he was certainly efficient. The Heisman Trophy candidate completed 16-of-28 pass attempts for 250 yards and a touchdown. Whenever the Cardinals needed him to make a play, he made it. Perry carried the ball just nine times but rushed for a team-high 82 yards and two touchdowns, averaging about nine yards per carry.

Rankings Ramifications: Things were looking a little dicey early for No. 7 Louisville, but they responded in a big way in the second half. There’s a chance they move up a spot or two in the top-25 with a handful of top-ranked teams facing tough challenged this weekend -- especially Alabama and Texas A&M.

But Did They Cover? Most lines moved to 13 or 14 points by kickoff, but the Cardinals still covered.
