Auburn's quarterbacking has not been a noted strength since the departure of Cam Newton. Hopes were low entering the season, with converted transfer cornerback Nick Marshall replacing presumptive starter Kiehl Frazier, who became a safety.

Pass! Touchdown pass! By Auburn! Things are looking up!
Saturday night against Mississippi State, Marshall went 23-of-34 for 339 yards, plus 23 on the ground. He capped it all with this 11-yard strike to C.J. Uzomah, which put the Tigers up for good, 24-20.
That completed a 6-of-8 final drive, and Auburn’s now won as many games as it did last year (and already one more game against a BCS-conference opponent).
