Nick Saban denies Texas rumors, black jerseys, everything

Saban tells fans he’s “too damn old” to leave Alabama for anywhere else.

Nick Saban denied interest in the head coach job at Texas on Thursday night’s fan call-in show, telling a fan that he is “too damn old to start all over some place else,” according to Michael Casagrande of AL.com:

“Nothing went on that I know of. I don’t know about any of this stuff,” Saban said. “I haven’t talked to anybody about that particular situation. They have a coach there.”

He continued as the cheers from the Buffalo Wild Wings audience started.

“Every year it’s something. Last year it was the Cleveland Browns,” Saban said. “The year before that it was somebody else, the NFL. Terry and I are very happy here in Tuscaloosa. We’re really love the University of Alabama. We really feel like a part of the community here and we have a lot of good friends here.”

Then he topped it off to a large round of applause.

Saban was connected with the Texas job in an Associated Press report Thursday afternoon. According to that report, Saban’s agent met with two Texas regents after last year’s BCS Championship Game to gauge Saban’s interest in taking over the Longhorn program. The regents then reportedly told current Texas coach Mack Brown of the contact. Brown indicated he would not retire, and the talks ended.

Brown’s continued struggles have led to increased speculation about his future with Texas. His Longhorns have lost two of their first three games of the 2013 season, and the longtime Texas head coach has already fired and replaced his defensive coordinator.

In other news from Saban's call-in show, the Alabama coach does not know of any plans for the Crimson Tide to wear black uniforms. He also told fans that cornerback Deion Belue is unlikely to play Saturday against Colorado State.
