After a 27-10 opening week loss at South Carolina, the Tar Heels rebounded with a 40-20 beatdown of Middle Tennessee State in Week 2. UNC had a bye week last week, and looks to bring their strong passing attack to Atlanta for what should be an interesting showdown of different offensive styles.
Georgia Tech has gotten off to a strong 2-0 start, thrashing Elon 70-0 in their opener before opening conference play with a 38-14 win at Duke last week. The Yellow Jackets, unsurprisingly, have excelled on the ground, ranking third in the nation with 356 yards per game on the ground.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Neither team is ranked in either poll, but Georgia Tech received votes in both. The Yellow Jackets hold a 27-17-3 lead in the all-time series, and have won the last four contests.

Weather: High of 78 with isolated thunderstorms and a chance of rain.
Three names to know
Bryn Renner. The senior has thrown at least 25 touchdown passes each of the past two years, and will be looking to do some damage to the Georgia Tech secondary.
Vad Lee. On the other side is a completely different kind of quarterback. Lee ran for nine touchdowns in Georgia Tech's triple option offense last year, and already has 439 total yards of offense this season.
David Sims. Lee is helped out by an excellent running back in Sims, who is averaging more than five yards per carry and is a dangerous receiver out of the backfield.
Two things at stake
Georgia Tech is one of the top contenders in the ACC Coastal, and with a road game against other top contender Miami in two weeks, they need all the standings help they can get.
North Carolina is trying to avoid its third 1-2 start in the last four seasons.
