BYU vs. Middle Tennessee: Blue Raiders lead after first quarter

Off to one of their worst starts in years, the BYU Cougars are looking to get back to .500 on the season. With the first quarter in the books, the Cougars trail Middle Tennessee State, 10-7.

Middle Tennessee struck first on their opening drive of the game as Cody Clark lined up a 42-yard field goal to give the Blue Raiders an early 3-0 lead. BYU came right back on the following drive. Led by quarterback Taysom Hill, a 12-yard touchdown rush gave the Cougars a 7-3 lead.

The Blue Raiders found the end zone just before the end of the quarter, taking the 10-7 advantage. Quarterback Logan Kilgore connected with Marcus Henry on a 16-yard touchdown strike, quieting a loud crowd at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah.

Kilgore has played well so far, completing 6 of 11 passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Parker leads the Raiders with 25 rushing yards on eight carries.
