In three games this season, Roland has caught eight passes, including a 65-yard bomb in the Gamecocks’ opener against North Carolina. The sophomore leads the team with 161 receiving yards. He was listed as a starter on this week’s depth chart.
Junior Damiere Byrd, who has caught 3 passes this year and 14 in 2012, is likely to start in Roland's place. The Gamecocks will also rely heavily on Bruce Ellington, who leads the team with 10 receptions so far this season.
There is no word on when Roland might return to the team, or if any other discipline is expected.
South Carolina faces undefeated Central Florida in Orlando Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET, with television coverage on ABC.
