LSU’s Tiger Stadium was the overwhelming winner of an ESPN poll asking coaches for the toughest road environment, according to Brett McMurphy. Of 99 coaches polled, 21 percent named Baton Rouge as the most difficult place to play. Texas A&M finished second in the poll with nine percent.

Oregon (six percent), Oklahoma (five percent) and Wisconsin (four percent) rounded out the top five. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Iowa finished in a five-way tie for sixth with four percent each.

McMurphy broke down the results between “Power 5” coaches and “Group of 5” coaches, revealing some stark differences. Texas A&M was not among the top 10 selections by Power 5 coaches and was ranked behind SEC members Alabama and Auburn, but earned 16 percent of the Group of 5 votes. Similarly, Tennessee got six percent of the Group of 5 votes but was left out of the Power 5 poll.
On the other hand, Clemson, which was left out of the top eight among Group of 5 coaches, got seven percent of the Power 5 votes.
