A police search of Alabama tight end Kurt Freitag's dorm room found 112 grams of marijuana and $4,661 in cash, according to a report from AL.com's Stephen Dethrage Monday. The search was prompted by a tip given to the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force. According to documents filed in the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court, agents witnessed a drug transaction involving Freitag on Oct. 7, though the sophomore's role has not been disclosed.

Crimson Tide backup tight end Kurt Freitag was named in a legal filing Monday linking him with a drug deal.
Dethrage’s report indicates that Freitag was read his Miranda rights, but that there is no record of any arrest in connection with the search. Spokespeople for both the University of Alabama and police declined comment.
The 112 grams of marijuana found by authorities totals just under 4 ounces. The Alabama legislature has considered a bill that would decriminalize marijuana possession up to 1 ounce, but it did not pass.
Freitag, who played sparingly last season, was not listed among five tight ends on the Crimson Tide’s preseason depth chart. He has yet to catch a pass this season.
Alabama, currently 5-1 on the season and ranked No. 7 in the nation, hosts Texas A&M in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.
