How to watch Florida State vs. Miami: Game guide, TV schedule, streaming, odds

Will the Hurricanes be the team to bring down the Seminoles?

Jeff Gammons

How long has it been since Miami defeated Florida State at home? A while. The Hurricanes have a chance to do so Saturday against the undefeated Seminoles, but it won’t be easy.

Florida State looks well on its way to the Playoff, and this could be its toughest remaining challenge. After this, the Seminoles face Boston College (who, to be fair, has a strong running game) and Florida (who has the talent to compete with nearly anyone), but Miami has been the best of those clubs so far this season. Florida State has played three ranked teams this year and defeated all of them -- Clemson, Notre Dame and Louisville.

Miami is in the midst of a three-game winning streak, recording multiple-possession victories over Cincinnati, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. The Hurricanes’ best win likely came over Duke, with their three losses falling against Louisville, Nebraska and Georgia Tech. Miami’s defense in particular has improved as the season has gone along -- they gave up a combined 72 points against Louisville and Nebraska, but have allowed just 26 over the past two weeks.

The numbers

Rankings and records: Florida State is ranked No. 3 in the Playoff rankings. Miami is not ranked.

Vegas: Florida State opened as 2.5-point favorites. They are now a 3-point favorite with an over/under of 61.5, per OddsShark.

Weather forecast: 78 degrees and partly cloudy.

Two things at stake

Florida State needs to win out to stay in the Playoff hunt.

Miami has something big to prove against its in-conference, in-state rivals.

One big matchup

Duke Johnson vs. Florida State rushing defense. The Seminoles have struggled at times against the run this season, but that's mostly been against power running games. Johnson's got loads and loads of speed for Miami at running back, and Miami's best chance may rely on his ability to make big plays.
