Clemson QB Deshaun Watson’s knee injury not necessarily season-ending

The true freshman quarterback is banged up again after returning from a broken hand.

UPDATE: Contrary to a previous report, Watson’s injury is an LCL sprain and a bone bruise, and he is listed as day to day, according to the school.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson left the Tigers' game against Georgia Tech with a leg injury. It appeared that he went down with the dreaded non-contact injury to his left knee, but he was able to walk off the field under his own power. He has since gone into the locker room for further attention from the medical staff, but his status is still up in the air.

Watson was replaced by senior Cole Stoudt, who threw a long pick-six two plays after coming into the game.

Watson missed time earlier this year with a broken hand, and was finally back and playing with a glove on his throwing hand. Before leaving the game, Watson had either thrown or run the ball on 14 of Clemson’s first 18 plays, so he was certainly seeing plenty of action. His early line was 5-7 for 27 yards and also 40 rushing yards on seven carries.

Georgia Tech leads Clemson 6-3, but it’s still early in the first half.
