UGA’s Todd Gurley tears ACL in first game back

ESPN

Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley returned Saturday from a four-game suspension due to NCAA rules violations, appearing to injure his left knee in the fourth quarter. While running free through the Auburn defense, the junior planted to cut and went down without being hit, crumpling to the ground with his left leg bunched up.

He was able to make it off the field under his own power. Team personnel surrounded him and looked him over before he was able to stand on his own.

Before his suspension, the running back had been the Heisman Trophy betting favorite.

Both Gurley and his backup, Nick Chubb, ran for more than 130 yards in No. 15 UGA's likely win against No. 9 Auburn. Gurley ran back the opening kickoff for a 105-yard touchdown, his first touch in a month, but the play was called back due to a holding penalty.
