From 1996-98, Bob Stoops was the defensive coordinator at Florida. He helped lead the Gators to their first national championship in school history, eventually earning him the Oklahoma job prior to the 1999 season. Stoops led the Sooners to a national title in just his second year with the program, and they’ve had nine top-10 finishes in his 15 years running the show.
Bob Stoops doesn’t want to be asked again about the Florida job
“All I want to be is a candidate at Oklahoma.”

With Florida’s job now open, Stoops has been mentioned as a potential name to replace Will Muschamp, although a departure to the NFL has been reported as more likely. The Oklahoma head coach addressed those rumors Monday.
Stoops on UF buzz: "All I want to be is a candidate at Oklahoma. I'm not a candidate anywhere else. I'm finished with that question."
— David Ubben (@davidubben) November 17, 2014 If Florida wants a Stoops, there's another one working about 700 miles north that's probably more available -- and he's on SB Nation's list of potential candidates.
