A win, and UCLA is into the Pac-12 Championship Game against Oregon. A loss, and the Arizona/Arizona State winner is. The scenario is pretty simple for the Bruins, who host a struggling Stanford team Saturday afternoon.
How to watch Stanford vs. UCLA: Game guide, TV schedule, streaming, odds
Can the Bruins ride their hot streak into a Pac-12 Championship Game berth?
The Bruins have won five games in a row, defeating ranked opponents Arizona and USC in that stretch -- each by more than a touchdown. A two-game losing streak in October (to Utah and Oregon by a combined 14 points) is all that keeps UCLA from a perfect record, and the Bruins have an outside shot at the playoff if they can win out.
Stanford has no shot at the playoff, with one of the country’s best defenses languishing behind one of its worst offenses. The Cardinal score just 25.2 points per game (allowing 16.5), losing to USC, Notre Dame, Arizona State, Oregon and Utah. Stanford’s best win of the season likely came at Washington, so UCLA gives them another opportunity for a marquee victory before the season’s end.

The numbers
Rankings and records: UCLA is ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll and No. 10 in the Coaches Poll. Stanford is not ranked in either poll. The Bruins are 9-2 with a 6-2 record in conference play, while the Cardinal are 6-5 with a 4-4 Pac-12 record.
Vegas: UCLA opened as 4.5-point favorites. They’re now 5.5-point favorites with an over/under of 50, per Odds Shark.
Weather forecast: 72 degrees and clear skies.
Two things at stake
A win for UCLA would grant them a spot against Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship.
A win for Stanford would go a long ways towards salvaging what has been an otherwise forgettable season.
One big matchup
UCLA rushing offense vs. Stanford rushing defense. The Bruins have topped 100 yards on the ground in every game this season and have been particularly good running the ball during this recent winning streak. That stopped against USC, when they gained just 3.1 yards per carry. Stanford is one of the nation’s elite rushing defenses, allowing just 3.2 yards per carry this season.
