With a season-ending date against Kansas State still on the table, Baylor’s in pretty good position to improve their playoff standing before the year is out. They’ll need to take care of business first Saturday, when they travel to Arlington to face Texas Tech.

Can the Red Raiders end a disappointing season with a major upset?
The Red Raiders have not had a very good season, with one-score victories over FCS Central Arkansas, UTEP and Iowa State and a 13-point win over Kansas. They’ve lost the rest of them, and most by not particularly close margins. They lost 45-13 to Kansas State, 82-27 to TCU and 34-13 to Texas, and the Bears’ potent offense could make this a long day for the struggling Texas Tech defense.
Baylor opened the season with six straight victories, capped by a 61-58 comeback win over TCU. The Bears’ next result, a 41-27 loss to West Virginia, is the only thing keeping them from a top-four spot right now. Baylor followed that game up with blowouts of Kansas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, and has the top scoring offense in the country at 50 points per game.

A win for Texas Tech would help end a bad season on a high note.
One big matchup
Baylor offense vs. Texas Tech defense. The Bears average 50 points per game, best in the FBS. The Red Raiders allow 40.6 points per game, third worst in the FBS. Baylor has tremendous big-play potential, and Texas Tech will need to limit those if they hope to stand any chance Saturday.
