Alabama vs. LSU betting odds guide and prediction

Alabama must pass difficult road test at LSU to stay in the playoff picture.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The LSU Tigers are 19-2 SU in their last 21 home games against conference opponents. The Tigers will try to keep that stretch of success going this Saturday hosting the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama at LSU kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET (CBS) on Saturday night at Tiger Stadium.

Alabama is a 6.5-point road favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. LSU’s improved play of late and Alabama’s recent struggles on the road offensively make LSU look like a solid value pick at +6 at home.

LSU’s defense has been fantastic all season long, ranking fourth in the nation with only 15.9 points per game against. That defense was on display in the Tigers’ 10-7 win over previously undefeated Ole Miss. Now 7-2 SU and ATS, LSU has struggled to find consistent production from its offense but has a defense that can keep the Tigers in any game. LSU is 3-0 ATS in its last three games as a home underdog.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Alabama 32.5, LSU 27.4

The Crimson Tide are 7-1 SU this season but just 2-6 ATS over that stretch. Both of Alabama’s covers came at home as the team is 0-4 ATS in its four games away from home. Alabama has averaged 24.5 points per game away from home this season compared to 48.5 PPG at home, but the defense has been great everywhere allowing only 14 points per game. Alabama is just 1-7 ATS in its last eight games as a road favorite and 0-5 ATS in its last five.

These two hated rivals know each other well, and both Nick Saban and Les Miles have had bye weeks to prepare their defenses for this game. With two of the top five defenses in the nation meeting in this one, points should be at a premium. LSU hasn’t lost at home to Alabama by more than six points in any of the last five games between these two teams.
