After a tough loss to Tennessee this weekend, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier spoke with The State’s Josh Kendall Tuesday about his future with the program, potential shakeups on the coaching staff and the disappointment of the Gamecocks’ 2014 season at large.
Steve Spurrier uses Taylor Swift for inspiration
Update: Video above of the South Carolina coach citing the wisdom of Taylor Swift a second time this week.
We’re not here to talk about that. We’re here to talk about what he opened with:
“I was telling our coaching staff, I think Taylor Swift’s got a song called ‘Shake it Off.’ Ugh. That’s what we’re trying to do, shake it off and get ready for the Florida Gators next week. That’s what we’re going to try to do, see if we can regroup and try to win a close game. You know we’ve had our share of close ones, though we’ve struggled on defense and so forth.”
So starts the Love Story between South Carolina and TayTay. Spurrier’s poor performance this season leave some asking if he Should’ve Said No to coming back next season, but it appears he hasn’t given up on The Story Of Us, even if Everything Has Changed.
As for Florida? We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
