Former 4-star Clemson QB Chad Kelly tweets he’s going to Ole Miss

The Rebels appear set to get some talent at one of their few positions of need for 2015.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Former Clemson quarterback and four-star recruit Chad Kelly appears to be heading to Ole Miss, according to Kelly on Twitter.

Kelly spent the past season at East Mississippi Community College, where the team won its third NJCAA national championship in the past four years. He put up an impressive performance for EMCC in 2014, completing 66.9 percent of his passes and averaging 325 yards per game, while throwing 47 touchdowns to only eight interceptions. This would make him the third EMCC star QB in a row to head to Oxford.

Kelly's major college career never really got off the ground before he ended up at EMCC. The former four-star recruit from Buffalo (N.Y.) St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute came to Clemson and was expected to be in the mix to replace Tajh Boyd, but was kicked off the team back in April of 2014 after a bust-up with coaches during the spring game.

If Kelly does land in Oxford, he should step in right away and compete for the starting job being vacated by the good doctor, Bo Wallace. And if he were to come close to replicating his JUCO numbers with the Rebels, Ole Miss would be in good shape for 2015, with plenty of talent returning elsewhere.
