One of the longest standing rivalries in college football has recently taken a pause, but one of the main parties involved seems to think the Border War will be resuming again ... at some point.
Gary Pinkel: Kansas has ‘open invitation’ to renew Mizzou rivalry
The Border War may be returning due to the new SEC scheduling rules.

In a Google Hangout on his personal website (welcome to 2014!), Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel threw a small jab at Kansas, the Tigers' long-time former conference rivals, while also suggesting the series will restart at some point.
"We want to play Kansas again. It was a great rivalry we had all those years," Pinkel said. "It’s been an open invitation. There’s some pouting going on still.
"It’s unfortunate, but it will happen again someday. It will. It would be great for our fans. In every sport, it would be good. We’ll see what happens."
Missouri left the Big 12 for the SEC before the 2012 season, and the two teams have not played since. The Tigers hold a slight edge in the all-time series, with a 57-54-9 (disputed) advantage over the Jayhawks, and Pinkel is 7-4 against Kansas (including victories in each of the last three contests between the two schools).
Pinkel was asked about the rivalry in reference to the SEC’s new non-conference scheduling rules, which will require schools to schedule one non-conference game against a team from either the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten or Pac 12 each season.

Missouri and Kansas aren’t the only former bitter rivals separated by conference re-alignment -- Texas and Texas A&M have passive-aggressively been taking shots at each other in public for nearly two years now, with no sign of them getting any closer to a game (despite the aforementioned SEC scheduling rule change).
But hey, we may be seeing the Border War start up again soon if Kansas gets it together (according to Gary Pinkel, at least), which is reward enough. With how Kansas has been playing, there's only one question -- does Todd Reesing have an eligibility left?
