5-star Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon investigated for ‘physical altercation,’ police confirm
The star of the Sooners’ 2014 class was not arrested at the scene.


As of July 28, 2014 at 1045 AM the Norman Police Department Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the Assault reported on July 25, 2014 at 0239 AM at Pickleman’s Gourmet Café, 759 Asp Avenue. The Norman Police Department can confirm as previously released by Attorney Kevin Finlay that Joe Mixon, age 18 of Norman, is an involved party of the investigation. The facts of the incident as reported to police describe an altercation between Amelia Rae Molitor, age 20 of Norman, and Joe Mixon that turned physical and concluded with Molitor sustaining injuries to her face. Joe Mixon was not present when Police arrived to the initial call for service. Police are in communication with all parties involved in this incident. While there is a video recording of the incident, the evidentiary value of the recording prohibits its release at this time. When Police Detectives conclude their investigation all pertinent documentation will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
Original, July 26: Joe Mixon, Oklahoma’s highest-rated signee in the class of 2014, was allegedly involved in a “serious altercation” Friday morning that required the involvement of the Norman Police Department. The news was first reported by Rivals and later confirmed by The Oklahoman through Mixon’s attorney and the Norman PD.
The incident reportedly took place at Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe in Norman. Mixon was not arrested at the scene. The Oklahoman cites an incident report that says an unnamed male assaulted a woman at Pickleman’s, leaving her with broken bones.
Cowboys Ride For Free cites a witness who claims the woman “was knocked out and blood was all over the floor.” Crimson And Cream Machine reports aggravated assault is a potential charge.

ESPN’s Travis Haney tweeted that Mixon was having troubled adjusting to life in Norman.
