Charlie Weis’ tenure at Kansas continues to make headlines, and probably not in the way he’d like them to. Among 10 bold predictions from Bruce Feldman at Fox Sports on the upcoming college football season was this note about Weis, an ever-popular inclusion on hot seat lists (emphasis ours):

5. Weis gets first axe
Charlie Weis will be the first head coach from a Power 5 conference to be fired this year. After going 1-17 in Big 12 play in his first two years at Kansas, the 58-year-old comes into this season already on thin ice. Won't help that his team lost its top two running backs to season-ending injuries or that word is he's falling asleep in team meetings.
Weis has been on the hot seat seemingly since he arrived in Lawrence, and his 4-20 record with a solitary Big 12 win since has not helped things. These allegations likely won’t help things as Weis enters a critical third year in his tenure.
Our big college football preview has the Jayhawks as the lone team in the bottom tier of the Big 12, but a non-conference slate of Southeast Missouri, Duke, and Central Michigan could provide two much-needed wins. Once conference season starts, however, it’s hard to see how Kansas gets rolling: Texas, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Baylor start it off, with the Longhorns and Cowboys as the only two home dates out of that bunch.
