Being one of college football’s most impressive unranked 1-1 teams may not sound impressive, but two such teams get to square off Saturday night with an opportunity to make some national noise. Oklahoma State will host UTSA in what could be one of the day’s more intriguing under-the-radar matchups.
How to watch Oklahoma State vs. UTSA: Game time, TV schedule, live online streaming and more
UTSA has one of the most experienced teams in the country, but can the Roadrunners stop a quarterback named Daxx?

The Cowboys opened the season with a 37-31 loss to No. 1 Florida State, nearly taking the lead in the fourth quarter before allowing two late scores. They followed that up with a 40-23 victory over Missouri State, showing no signs of trouble on offense after a quarterback switch (more on that later) but raising some concerns on defense. Bears quarterback Kierra Harris averaged 9.8 yards per pass against Oklahoma State’s secondary (higher than Jameis Winston’s 9.3 the week before), but does UTSA have what it takes to put up the points?
The Roadrunners’ defense has impressed this season, but their offense is just as experienced. All 22 starters for UTSA are upperclassmen, with an astonishing 17 seniors. Larry Coker’s team opened the year with a dominating 27-7 road win over Houston, and followed that up with a 26-23 loss to high-powered Arizona. The Roadrunners could make some noise this season and are pretty solid favorites in the C-USA West, but their chances for a marquee victory are running out.

The numbers
Rankings and records: Neither team is ranked. Both teams are 1-1 on the season. Oklahoma State holds a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.
Vegas: Oklahoma State is a 13.5-point favorite at home.
Weather forecast: 67 and partly cloudy.
Two things at stake
Oklahoma State nearly pulled off the improbable in its close loss to Florida State. UTSA may be the toughest defense the team faces until Oct. 18 against TCU, so this is the biggest chance for the new-look Cowboys offense to prove itself.
UTSA impressed in its opening victory against Houston, but couldn’t quite pull off the upset victory over Arizona. This is the Roadrunners’ last regular season matchup against a Power 5 opponent, and is their best opportunity to increase their bowl stature.
One key matchup
Oklahoma State passing offense vs. UTSA secondary. With starter J.W. Walsh reportedly out four to six weeks with a foot injury, it looks like Arizona transfer Daxx Garman will be taking the reins at quarterback for the Cowboys. Garman saw his first career collegiate action against Missouri State, completing 16 of 26 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. He'll be facing a much stiffer challenge against the Roadrunners, who start three seniors and two juniors in the secondary of their 4-2-5 defense. Four of them already have interceptions this season, including senior safety Triston Wade, who also has four pass breakups.
