Which team will stay undefeated?

The Horned Frogs opened their season with a 48-14 win over Samford before getting a week off heading into this one. Quarterback Trevone Boykin threw two touchdowns and ran for one more while the TCU defense completely shut down the Bulldogs, giving up just one offensive touchdown. The Horned Frogs outgained Samford 555-143 in the game.
Minnesota started the season with a game against one of the FCS’s toughest teams, but did not fall into the trap so many have before. The Gophers easily dispatched visiting Eastern Illinois 42-20, and continued that effort in a 35-24 victory over Middle Tennessee State. Minnesota has an emerging star in running back David Cobb, with freshman Berkley Edwards also showing his mettle in the backfield.

Two things at stake
Oklahoma and Baylor seem firmly entrenched as the top two teams in the Big 12, but there’s plenty of uncertainty behind them. With a win here, TCU could throw its name in that ring.
The Big Ten West looked open before Wisconsin lost and Nebraska and Iowa struggled. Minnesota’s been arguably the most impressive team in the division, and could announce its arrival as a legitimate divisional contender with a big win here.
One key matchup
Minnesota rushing offense vs. TCU rushing defense. A big part of the Gophers’ success this season has come on the ground, where they are averaging 5.18 yards per carry. Senior David Cobb has been leading the way, averaging 6.77 yards per carry and leading the Big Ten with 291 rushing yards. At 5’11 and 220 pounds, the senior is a bruiser of a back, and he torched Middle Tennessee for 220 yards and two scores.
TCU has grown a reputation as a defense-first team under Gary Patterson, and that’s held true so far this year. The Horned Frogs gave up just 1.85 yards per carry against Samford, led by senior linebackers Marcus Mallet (10 tackles) and Paul Dawson (nine).
