Former USC cornerback Brian Baucham is suing the school and former head coach Lane Kiffin, alleging he suffered cardiopulmonary and brain damage as the result of negligence.
Former player sues USC, Lane Kiffin over claim he was forced to play when ill
Brian Baucham alleges he was left with cardiopulmonary damage and brain injury after the incident.

Baucham, who played for the Trojans from 2008 to 2012, says he suffered a concussion around two months before a September 2012 game against California, and became ill two days before the game. The suit says medical staff told him he was in “no condition to play,” but ended up doing so anyway.
The suit claims Baucham played in the first half and was sent to the locker room before halftime where he was given additional intravenous fluids. During the fourth quarter, the suit says, Baucham collapsed and was carted to the locker room where he received more intravenous fluids.
Baucham began coughing up blood and fluids and experienced headache and blurred vision. He was taken by ambulance to USC Keck Medical Center.
The suit claims a CT scan found bleeding into the brain, and that USC attempted to take away Baucham’s scholarship upon his discharge from the hospital.
