Mike Leach is a football coach, but more importantly, he’s a life coach, and he has some advice for all of you people hoping to find love. Leach has given numerous interviews on the science behind putting together the best first date, and on Monday, he added to the list. So here are Leach’s updated tips for helping you find love.

1. Make her eat (no salads allowed)
According to Mike Leach, the biggest mistake you can make on a first date is putting a woman in a situation where she can order a salad. Don’t let that happen. Here is his suggestion to a Texas Tech freshman who was asking for a dinner recommendation.
“I recommend Cagle Steak House, which is very casual. The other thing that’s great about it is there’s very little salad at Cagle’s so then the girl will be forced to eat in front of you.”
He’s had multiple recommendations for Washington State students, with both following the same theme. The first suggestion was across the border in Idaho:
“First take her to CDs Pit House BBQ in Moscow, ID. If she will get her hands dirty with some great BBQ, you will know you are on the right track!”
The second was more general, but still got his point across.
"Try to have somewhere where there's not salad, because girls will try to show off and act like all they eat is salad, so try to put them somewhere where they're in a position where they have to put real food in their mouth."
2. Use a coupon to see how she reacts
When Leach met his wife, he didn’t win her over by taking her on some fancy date. Rather, he took her to A&W and made her order something cheap.
"Went to A&W, had just finished a rugby game, went to A&W, had a coupon book, she said 'what are you getting?' She's looking at the menu, 'what looks good? what are you getting?' I handed her the 2-for-1 coupon book, I said 'I don't know, but here's the menu.' Seems to me we got some kind of bacon hamburger thing. She got a rootbeer freeze. I do remember that."

"You'll cut the weak out of the lineup right away if you do it that way. You'll only be involved with committed people if they're going to do the coupon book. It doesn't hurt. If you're just trying to dress your life up a little and pretend you have a relationship, then maybe you don't want to use the coupon book if it's some kind of a volume deal. But if you want to zero in on one or two, break out the coupon book, saw off the weak right off the top so you can get down the path to find the right one."
3. Stop using technology, it will end the human species
Leach’s advice on technology was a little darker than his anti-salad rants. While anyone will tell you that you should put your phone down on a first date, Leach thinks that the smartphone will do more than just ruin dating prospects — it will eventually lead to the extinction of the human species.

This is a theme in all of Leach’s dating tips. Not only might it save the human species, but it might also save your date. Finding non-salad options might be essential, but having good conversation is the most important part of dating.
"I would go enjoy the incredible college life on College Hill at WSU but make sure you have the opportunity to talk to her a lot."
