Mark Richt calls Clemson fan letter ‘bogus’

Deadspin claims the Georgia football coach responded to a fan trash talk letter with one of his own. Richt claims he didn’t.

Either Mark Richt is a pro-grade trash talker, or a recent Deadspin report is wrong.

The Georgia Bulldogs head coach has denied that he sent a Clemson fan a boastful letter in the wake of his team’s 45-21 dismantling of the Tigers in Athens last weekend.

The article claims that the fan, referenced only as “Travis,” sent a trash-talking letter to Richt sometime during the offseason. Thursday morning, he allegedly received the following hand-written response, signed and addressed from Richt:

There was a reason Georgia was ranked above Clemson in the preseason polls, and I am sure we showed why last night.

- Mark Richt

PS: Todd told me he didn’t have a good game

That postscript, of course, is a reference to star running back Todd Gurley and his 293 all-purpose yards, four-touchdown performance last Saturday.
