It’s time for a championship game of some sort, which means it’s also time for politicians to make friendly wagers involving local cuisine or drink. Oregon plays Ohio State on Monday: besides the trophy and everything that comes with it for the winning program, there’s beer at stake.
Ohio governor wagering better beer than Oregon governor on title game
Step your game up, Gov. Kitzhaber.
Oregon governor John Kitzhaber and Ohio governor John Kasich have bet local beers on the outcome of the game, along with some local food. If Ohio State wins, Kitzhaber will send a six-pack of Total Domination IPA from Ninkasi Brewing, a company in Eugene (as well as hazelnuts and cheese). If Oregon wins, Kasich will send IPA from the Columbus Brewing Company (along with lasagna and chocolate and peanut butter buckeyes).
Going by Beeradvocate’s ratings, Kitzhaber is getting the better of the deal. Columbus IPA is given a 94 score by the website, rated as “outstanding,” while Total Domination IPA receives a “good” rating of 83.
There’s one other thing working in Kitzhaber’s favor -- most experts are picking the Ducks to win.
