Oregon a big favorite over Ohio State in college football national championship
After blowing out the defending champions in the semifinal round, the Ducks are favored to win it all.
The Oregon Ducks are 7.5-point favorites to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes in the college football national championship January 12, via OddsShark. The game will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, kicking off at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The spread is about a point bigger than projected, and you can look at the opening round results to see why. The Ducks plastered previously undefeated defending national champions Florida State 59-20. The Buckeyes upset top-seeded Alabama 42-35 in New Orleans, dominating the yardage numbers but winning by just one possession. Ohio State had no problem being the underdog in the first game, however: Alabama was favored by 9 points in the semifinal round matchup.
This is Oregon’s second title game appearance in program history, following their loss to Auburn in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Ohio State has won seven national championships in their program’s history, and a win against Oregon would give them their first since the 2002 season.
