Public betting on Oregon, but sharps picking Ohio State, according to sportsbook

Nearly three-quarters of the betting public has picked the Ducks.

The national championship game between Oregon and Ohio State is still a week away, but the betting trends have come in strong. Nearly three-quarters of the public has bet on the Ducks, but the line remains steady at Oregon -7, according to Bovada sports book manager Kevin Bradley:

Oregon opened as a touchdown favorite and despite 70% of the early money on the Ducks we are holding firm at that number for now as we’ve seen some sharp bettors on Ohio State. I am not surprised that it is this one-sided after the Ducks blowout last week and maybe bettors feeling that Ohio State’s run is done.

Late fumbles by Florida State helped expand Oregon’s margin of victory and probably made the initial spread larger than it should have been. Bovada appears to be comfortable with it now, and we’ll continue to watch the trends over the next week.

The game kicks off in Arlington January 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
