Texas whooped Oklahoma early, going up 14-0 while forcing punts on the Sooners’ first four possessions.
Oklahoma’s offensive line is tipping runs/passes to Texas’ defense
Texas is playing surprisingly well against Oklahoma -- thanks in part to a helpful hint from the Sooners’ front.

How are the Longhorns looking good defensively just a week after allowing 50 points to TCU? ABC did a great job highlighting something that might be helping:
Oklahoma’s tackles are tipping whether it’s a pass or run play with their pre-snap foot positioning.
Watching the first half thus far, it wasn’t just on the plays ABC highlighted. It’s been pretty consistent. On pass plays like the one below, the tackles’ outside feet are way behind their inside feet to allow them to backpedal and protect the QB’s pocket:
On run plays, their feet are more parallel to the line of scrimmage to open up holes along the line:
For a defensive player, this is a big deal. It’s a huge benefit to know for sure that a pass is coming. You can focus on getting to the quarterback without worrying that you might be allowing a huge hole for running back Samaje Perine. On some of these plays, Oklahoma has faked play action, but the Texas defense didn’t have to pay much mind to it, thanks to the tip from the offensive line.
