Charlie Strong goes crowdsurfing at midfield after Texas shocks Oklahoma
Can you tell that the Longhorns love their coach?
Texas was 1-4, with two of the nation’s most agonizing losses sandwiched between blowout losses to Notre Dame and TCU, and Charlie Strong was dealing with rumblings about a hot seat and a locker room so apparently turmoiled that one of his players was tweeting from the locker room at halftime of that loss to the Horned Frogs.
Texas is now 2-4, after an impressive 24-17 rivalry win over Oklahoma in which the Longhorns never trailed and found an identity by running the Sooners over and pressuring Baker Mayfield all afternoon. It was football that befit the team’s hard-nosed, blue-collar head coach, and an emphatic rebuke of his critics.
So, yeah, Charlie Strong deserves the Gatorade shower and being lifted up to crowd-surf on his players’ shoulders at midfield. He deserves all of this.
