College football odds, Week 7: LSU, Alabama among the betting favorites

The SEC and Big Ten conferences feature big matchups on this week’s college football betting card, including Florida underdogs vs. LSU.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Gators are 6-0 straight up and 5-1 against the spread in their first six games of the season. The Gators take on their toughest test of the regular season this Saturday when they visit the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge.

Florida opened as a 6.5-point underdog, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. LSU is 5-0 SU on the season and has won by double digits in each of its last four games since narrowly defeating Mississippi State 21-19 on the road in the team's season opener. The Tigers are 13-0 straight up in their last 13 home games in the month of October.

In another important SEC showdown this Saturday, the Alabama Crimson Tide are a 4.5-point road favorite going up against the Texas A&M Aggies. Alabama is 4-1 SU over its last five games but has covered the spread just once over that span with a 1-4 ATS record.

Texas A&M is just 7-8 SU and 5-10 ATS in its last 15 games against SEC opponents per the OddsShark College Football Database.

The Michigan Wolverines haven’t given up a point in their last three games, and they open as a 6.5-point favorite at home against the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan State has labored its way to a 6-0 SU start, going 0-6 ATS in the process while struggling with weak teams. The Wolverines will be Michigan State’s toughest opponent of the season to date.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have quietly put together a 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS start, and their schedule shapes up nicely down the stretch for a potentially huge regular season. The Hawkeyes face perhaps the toughest game on their schedule this Saturday when they visit the Northwestern Wildcats.

Northwestern was dismantled by Michigan last week but is still 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS on the season. This game is currently going off as a pick 'em.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have failed to cover the spread in each of their last five games. Ohio State will look for its first cover since Week 1 as a 17.5-point favorite this week at home against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Ohio State is 7-2 SU and ATS in its last nine games against Penn State.
