The 2015-2016 college football coaching carousel got off to an early start, when Illinois fired Tim Beckman before the season even began. Steves Spurrier and Sarkisian left their respective USCs for wildly different reasons just weeks into the season, and firings of Maryland’s Randy Edsall and Miami’s Al Golden just added more steam to warm bottoms nationwide.

It appeared like we’d end up with a pretty normal carousel after all, until Georgia fired Mark Richt amidst a 10-win season and LSU came perilously close to canning Les Miles during his latest three-loss campaign. Miles stuck around, but Richt’s exit to his alma mater, Miami, ensured a higher-than-usual level of turnover excitement.
But we weren’t done! Ball State’s Pete Lembo left for Maryland, and Texas State and UTSA both said goodbye to the coaches who took them to the FBS level.
That puts us at 27 teams out of 128 that will be under new management next year, and I guess we’re not even done yet? What if the NFL plucks somebody?

- October 20: Rams HC Jeff Fisher denies interest in USC job, citing a commitment to St. Louis management.
