Notre Dame vs. Temple 2015 odds: Fighting Irish double-digit favorite

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit the Temple Owls this Saturday looking to keep their playoff hopes alive with another win.

Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 7-1 straight up and against the spread over their last eight games. The Fighting Irish finish the season with four of their last five games on the road, starting with this Saturday’s game against the Temple Owls in Philadelphia.

Notre Dame is a 10-point road favorite this Saturday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The last time these two teams met Notre Dame won 28-6 as a 27.5-point favorite at home in 2013.

With a 41-31 win over the USC Trojans, Notre Dame entered its bye week with a 6-1 SU and ATS record and a 5-0 ATS record over its last five games. DeShone Kizer has been excellent in the role of starting quarterback, completing 65.4 percent of his passes and passing for 1,370 yards and 10 touchdowns since taking over for the injured Malik Zaire.

The Fighting Irish continue to roll and show no signs of slowing down in spite of their injuries.

October has historically been a good month for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are 12-2 SU in their last 14 October games, according to the OddsShark College Football Database, and a remarkable 21-0 ATS in their last 21 October road games.

Fighting Irish vs. Owls OddsShark Matchup Report

The Temple Owls have gone 8-0 SU and 6-2 ATS over their last eight games including an impressive 24-14 road win over East Carolina last week. In their last eight games as a home underdog, Temple is 6-2 ATS with three outright upsets. The Owls are hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Memphis Tigers, another AAC team that pulled off a big upset at home this season when it beat Ole Miss.

Saturday’s total is set at 51 points. The OVER is 5-2 in Notre Dame’s last seven road games and 3-1 in the team’s last four games overall.

Temple is a well-coached team that has played well this season, and if Notre Dame doesn’t bring its best effort the Owls could capitalize. But given the fact that the Fighting Irish have had an entire bye week to prepare and focus up for this game, the 10-point road favorite should win and cover on Saturday.
